Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities
The Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities is a state agency that:
Provides information about disability rights and related issues, and referrals to sources of service and support.
Advocates for people who are at risk of becoming an inpatient, or who are currently living in a state institution or mental health facility, or who who have transitioned out of such institution.
Investigates allegations of abuse and neglect concerning adults with mental retardation
Reviews applications to install wheelchair lifts in non-residential buildings.
